George and Sarah Gammon 5K Run/Walk/Discover

Race info
The George & Sarah Gammon 5K Run/Walk/Discover originated in 2021 as a way to expand our celebration of Juneteenth. The Gammons demonstrated tremendous bravery and compassion in the struggle for equality, freedom and justice by operating a safehouse on the Underground Railroad in Springfield, Ohio during the 1850s.

Registration fees
Through May 19th (includes a shirt)
$30 - 5K

May 20th through June 8 (includes shirt if registered by June 1)
$35 - 5K

You must maintain a 20 min/mile pace. Please consider this when registering.

**Kids and families will also be able to participate in a FREE Underground Discovery Walk in the greenspace out front of the Gammon House. Those who complete it can also be entered to win the rocker.

Schedule
Race day
Saturday, June 8th, race start
7am to 7:45am: Race day packet pick up.
8am: 5K race start

Parking
Participants will park at the Northwest corner of W. Clark and S. Center.

Post race
All finishers will be entered to win a rocker from Cracker Barrel. Everyone will also receive a scoop of Young's Dairy Ice Cream.

Awards
First place overall male/female will receive a trophy. Everyone will receive a ribbon medallion.

Results
Results will post when you finish on the Key Sports website.

Cancellation Policy
By registering for this race, you agree that there will be no refunds offered for this event. On race day, we will be following the pandemic guidance currently recommended from the State of Ohio. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, pandemic, or for any other reason deemed necessary by timing company, race organizers, public safety officials, or anyone else in charge, we reserve the right to reschedule the event date if possible, cancel the race, or convert this to a virtual race. There will be no refunds for any reason and race items will not be mailed.

Weather in Ohio can be unpredictable. Unless we have thunder, lightning, ice on the course, unsafe temperatures, or are not permitted to drive on the roads, we will host the race. If we have to cancel for the aformentioned reasons or other reasons not mentioned, the race will be virtual and shirts will be available for pick up at a date to be determined.

Transfer Policy
If you find that you can no longer participate in this event, transfers to another participant will be permitted through May 31st.
